Common questions

Does it need internet?

No. Every translation is bundled with the app, so reading, searching and notes all work in aeroplane mode. The app makes no network requests at all.

How do I change language?

Settings → Bible translation. Translations are grouped by language, and the whole app — book names, chapters, verses — follows your choice.

Can I read one verse in another language?

Yes. Tap a verse, then choose a language chip under “In another language” to see just that verse, without changing what you are reading.

What is Service Mode?

A stripped-back view for use during a service: a running sermon note, one-tap capture of the verses being preached, fast verse jumping, and a dim toggle for dark rooms.

Where are my notes stored?

On your device only. Settings → Export My Data writes everything to a Markdown file you can keep or send to yourself.

Why is Explain unavailable?

Explain Verse uses Apple Intelligence on device. It needs a supported device with Apple Intelligence turned on in iOS Settings; otherwise the feature stays hidden.

Translations and licences

BibleDesk ships 18 translations across 16 languages, all public domain or openly licensed. Every translation's full licence, source and attribution is listed inside the app under Settings → Translations & Licenses.

Reporting a problem

Email admin@plugai.in. It helps to include your device model, your iOS version, the translation you were reading, and what you expected to happen.

Found a mistake in a Bible text itself? Those come from open sources such as eBible.org, so please include the exact reference and translation and we will pass it upstream.
