BibleDesk Privacy Policy

What BibleDesk stores on your device

BibleDesk keeps the following on the device you are using, inside the app's own storage:

• Your preferences: theme, Scripture text size, selected translation, preferred language, and whether you have completed onboarding.
• Your notes, including verse-anchored notes and Service Mode sermon notes.
• Your bookmarks and highlights.
• Your reading position and the references you have recently visited.
• Downloaded chapter illustrations in the system Caches directory. iOS may remove these temporary files when it needs space, and you can remove them from BibleDesk Settings.

Preferences are stored in the system preferences store for this app. Notes, bookmarks, highlights, reading position, and recent references are stored in a database file inside the app's Application Support directory. Both are private to BibleDesk.

The Bible texts themselves are bundled with the app. Scripture text, search queries, notes, bookmarks, highlights, and reading history are never sent with an artwork request.

Optional chapter artwork downloads

When Chapter artwork is on, opening a supported New Testament chapter requests that chapter's illustration files from https://plugai.in. The requested file path identifies the Bible book, chapter, and illustration. Standard internet routing necessarily exposes the request to the hosting and network providers while it is delivered. The BibleDesk artwork route is configured without access logging, and BibleDesk does not add an account ID, device ID, advertising ID, note, search, or Scripture text to the request.

Downloaded illustrations are cached on your device so BibleDesk does not need to fetch the same file every time. You can turn Chapter artwork off or remove downloaded artwork in Settings. Scripture reading remains available without a connection.

What BibleDesk does not do

• It contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting service, and no tracking of any kind.
• It does not build a profile of you, and it does not use your data for advertising or for measurement.
• It makes no network requests except optional chapter illustration downloads described above.
• It does not ask for your contacts, photos, location, microphone, camera, or health data.

Device backups

Because your notes, bookmarks, highlights, and preferences live in the app's storage on your device, they are included in your device backups if you have iCloud Backup or encrypted computer backups turned on. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's terms, not by BibleDesk. If you have backups turned off, uninstalling BibleDesk permanently deletes everything it has stored.

On-device intelligence

Explain Verse and the suggested message on a share card are generated by Apple's on-device Foundation Models, using Apple Intelligence on devices that support it. The verse reference and the verse text are passed to that model on your device. BibleDesk sends nothing to a server for these features, and the generated text is not stored or collected by BibleDesk. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, these features are simply unavailable and BibleDesk falls back to a fixed message.

Generated explanations are produced by a language model. They are offered as study context, not as doctrinal teaching, and they can be wrong.

Sharing

When you share a verse card, BibleDesk creates the image on your device and hands it to the standard iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is your choice, and is governed by whichever app or service you send it to. BibleDesk does not receive a copy and does not record what you shared.

Deleting your data

Deleting a note, bookmark, or highlight inside the app removes it from the device. Settings also offers “Delete All My Content”, which removes every note, bookmark, highlight, saved reading position and recent reference in one step. Deleting BibleDesk removes everything it stored, subject to any device backup you have made.

Children

BibleDesk does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated text ships inside the app and the date at the top changes with it. This page is kept in step with the copy inside the app.
