Privacy Policy

1. Our approach to privacy

RoveDesk keeps your data on your own devices. On the same network it connects your Apple devices directly, with no server in between. To reach your Mac over the internet, an optional account and a lightweight signaling server help your devices find each other — but that server never receives your screen, input, files, or terminal activity. We do not run cloud storage or central servers that hold your content.

2. Information we do not collect

• Optional Sign in with Apple. Local-network control needs no account. To reach your Mac over the internet you can sign in with Apple; we then store only your Apple user identifier (never used for advertising), and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
• No screen, input, or file content. Your Mac's screen frames, pointer and keyboard input, terminal output, and transferred files are exchanged directly between your trusted devices and are never sent to us.
• No advertising identifiers and no sale or sharing of personal data for advertising.

3. Information processed on your devices

To establish and maintain a session, RoveDesk processes the following locally and stores it only on your devices:

• Device names and identifiers you choose, used to display and allow-list trusted devices.
• Six-digit pairing codes, generated on the Mac host and entered on the mobile app. Codes are short-lived and used only to establish trust.
• Connection metadata such as latency, transport type, and active display, shown to you in the connection island.

This information stays on your devices and is used solely to operate the features you request.

4. Permissions RoveDesk requests

On macOS, RoveDesk asks for system permissions so it can act as a host. You grant these explicitly in System Settings and can revoke them at any time:

• Screen Recording — to capture and send your Mac's screen frames to your trusted device.
• Accessibility & Input Monitoring — to move the pointer, click, scroll, type, and run shortcuts you send.
• Local Network — to discover and connect to devices on your network using Bonjour.
• Terminal access — to run the terminal sessions you start.

RoveDesk uses each permission only for the corresponding feature while a session is active.

5. Local network and connections

On the same network, RoveDesk discovers hosts using Bonjour and connects directly — no SSH, VPN, or port forwarding. For internet access, a signaling server we operate exchanges only the information needed to set up a connection (never your screen, input, or files); your session then travels peer-to-peer with end-to-end (DTLS) encryption. Only when a direct connection isn't possible is the encrypted session relayed through a relay (TURN) server, which likewise cannot read its contents.

6. Device trust and allow-listing

You decide which devices are trusted. The Mac host shows pending and trusted devices and lets you allow or remove any device. Removing a device immediately revokes its access.

7. Diagnostics and analytics

RoveDesk includes a small number of third-party SDKs strictly for app operation: RevenueCat (manages subscriptions), Sentry (crash diagnostics), and the Meta (Facebook) SDK (measures app installs). These receive only the technical data needed for their function and never your session content (screen, input, files, or terminal). Apple's standard crash reporting may also apply if you opt in.

8. Children's privacy

RoveDesk is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Third-party services

RoveDesk is distributed through the Apple App Store, governed by Apple's privacy practices, and uses Sign in with Apple for optional internet access. Aside from the operational SDKs listed in “Diagnostics” (RevenueCat, Sentry, Meta) and our own signaling/relay servers — none of which receive your session content — we do not share your information with other third parties.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as RoveDesk evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
